Trainer Requirements?

Has anyone noticed that the heroes of the Pokémon games always wear headgear of some sort? Whether its a hat, bandana or head band, the trainers in every game always have something on their heads.

I noticed this when I was making my last poster. Is this a requirement or something? The rival trainers (with the exception of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) never wear hats. Just the heroes.

By that logic, if I want to be the star of a Pokémon game, I'd have to wear a hat.
